on February 14th.

Grandma-" Happy Valentines Day Rowan."

Rowan- " Whats that??"

Grandma-" A day when people tell special people in their lives they love them."

Rowan-"Do you love me Grandma??"

Grandma-"Sure I do, as with your brother and your cousins I have loved you
since the first moment I saw you."

Rowan-"Thankyou Grandma."

To all my wonderful Grandchildren......Happy Valentines Day.....know that you
are loved very much.

Christmas Memories

Most of my family is counting the days till Christmas, Me I am just remembering some of the dandy times I Have had over the years.
When my children were little there were so many memories it is hard to pick one out. A few that were so wild stick in my memory. One was the year we locked all the children in the bathroom ( with four little ones the lock was on the outside of the door!!!). Their father was on the roof making Santa sounds. I was so amused at the children gigling I missed the screams of help coming from the roof as their father fell off it. Well at least noone was hurt. Another time that I remember was when my childrens father and I had a wee bit too much to drink and we started to assemble four riding toys late Christmas Eve. That the children were able to ride the toys was truely one of the Christmas Miracles.
When the grandchildren came along we were so anxious to have Christmas in our house we had the first one in the unfinished house. One of my sons-in-law had everyone check their boxes to make sure we didn't have one of the little ones in them. One Christmas we took several of the grandchildren to see holiday lights in our community and as we went down the road our next to oldest grandson started to sing a beautiful sone he had learned at school for the Christmas program. When he was thru I asked him to sing it again but with his grandfather who sang in the church choir. Well he did and I would have given anything to have a recorder with us. It was so beautiful it brought happy tears to my eyes. When my dad spent one christmas with us our oldest grandson who had just learned to play the saxaphone asked could he play for his great-grandfather. We were all very anxious to hear him and he played Christmas tunes for about 30 minutes for his great-grandfather. Heaven help me that was a Hallmark moment if there ever was one.
One christmas I bought the four middle grandchildren p.j.'s for christmas , when it came time to go home they all went into a seperate room and came out in the new p.j.'s stating they were ready to spend the night . Of course their parents said" see ya in the morning" !!!!
I look forward to many more memories but am grateful for all the wonderful ones I have. To all my family both in-laws and out-laws, big and little MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Bigger and Better

Ha...you thought this was about me didn't ya!!! Nope, just about
the family.
We found out this summer that another Grandbaby is coming in
January and it will be a boy. We want nothing more than him and
his mother to be ok. His dad will survive my son-in=law is a strong
man.
Speaking of strong men, the oldest daughter was married on Sept 3rd.
So now we have another son=in=law. He seems to be a good man and
seems to have the patience of a saint when it comes to the rest of the
family.
When I was young I worried that noone would remember me. Boy
oh was I ever wrong.... Family count is now 4 children, 3 sons-in-law,
one daughter-in-law, 8 almost nine wonderful grandchildren, 2 step
grandchildren. There are lots of inlaws too.
My grandparents would have been shocked over the size of my
family now as they thought 4 grandchildren was a lot!! My cousin
and my step-brother all have large families and we really feel as we
are very blessed.

Bye Sweetheart

To my oldest Daughter, sorry mom was so emotional but I never
was one to say bye. I will miss you more than I realized. I will miss
our late nite talks as well as the morning ones. I will miss
having fun at the yard sales as well as the estate sales, but I
hope we can still do some of these.I will always remember the
times we alone shared and the times it seemed it was you and
me against the world. I know you will only be a couple of hours
away but since you have never been more than 20 minutes away
it will be an adjustment for me.I hope you will enjoy the new
life your starting and know that I wish you all the LOVE and
HAPPINESS you deserve.

One can Brag

Gee, has it been so long since I wrote some thoughts, oh well better late
than never.
I wanted to say how proud I am of my middle Daughter and her Husband who
took in an exchange student for 10 months. It is no big feat to open your
house to a young person but to open your heart and make the 10 months a
memorable experience the child will never forget is really great. They
were fortunate enough to get a student who was someone to be proud of.The whole family enjoyed the student and the student in return
seemed to enjoy their tempory "family". Hopefully we will see each other
some time in the future. Till then God Bless and Keep you safe Ricki.

Bedlam Birthdays

Goodness, I am almost as bad as some people in not posting in ages. We had a
family get-together last weekend to celebrate several b-days. There were two
folks not there and were missed. We had the youngest Grandbaby turning the big
one and showing us all how he is up and walking. One grandson has made the teen
years at last, we could all tell as we saw him for about five minutes all evening.
You know all teenagers think the family is sooooo uncool!! One of the older
grand-daughters turned 18 and had decided she wanted to go back in time. My oldest
daughter turned 45 or as she put it 39 one more time.
The house of one of my daughters was filled with good food, one son-in-law
cooked some great meat, and we all brought a delicious dish. Everyone was
talking and eating and opening gifts. Taking pictures was part of the evening
with old cameras and new ones and phones and digital ones.
Most folks would call it bedlam as there was never a quiet moment but we all
enjoyed getting together and it is good to see nearly all the grand-children and
see how everyone grows so much since Christmas. These are the times to remember
and reflect upon when your sitting on the front porch with a good glass of wine.
